ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The 9th International Conference of Art Libraries is addressed to all interested professionals from the art libraries, museums, and archives sector and beyond. We are focusing on topics around the Art Discovery Group Catalogue initiative as well as on general themes concerning the art world in terms of documentation, access provision, interoperability, preservation and conservation, publishing, and the like. One of the core values of these biannual conferences is the convention of many colleagues from different countries and even continents and the occasion not only to follow together a program of common interests but also to exchange experiences and build networks for mutual support and collaboration.

The conference is also a most appreciated opportunity to learn more about the hosting institution as well as the location. This year's host, the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, is one of the leading centers for art historical research worldwide and its art library is the most important one on the German territory. Moreover, this library belongs to the group of founders of the former Virtual Catalogue of Art History and is today one of the core members of the Art Discovery Group Catalogue.

And last but not least, Munich is a marvelous place. Its cultural life ranks among the highest and most attractive in Europe. Several world class museums, orchestras, theaters, its two internationally renowned universities, many research institutions, libraries and others make Munich an outstanding center of culture and science. However, also its culinary tradion is famous and highly appreciated and should not be missed.

All in all, we are convinced that this conference will be a unforgettable experience and we very much look forward to welcoming you at the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in November.
